Sensible Cyclery is a social enterprise operated by Caminar, a nonprofit agency serving people with disabilities. The business is located at 2505 Esplanade and sells quality, reconditioned and affordable bicycles.
Not only does Sensible Cyclery sell reconditioned bicycles, it also provides vocational
training opportunities for the individuals that Caminar serves.
The mission of Sensible Cyclery:
Young adult and adult bikes are sold. Bicycle prices range from $50 to $200. Bike accessories such as water bottles, helmets, front and rear safety lights and bicycle security locks are also available. Repairs and maintenance are limited to cycles sold by the business.
Donated bikes are received from community members, landlords, the city of Chico, CSU, Chico and other nonprofit providers.
Each bicycle is inspected and evaluated for repair and reconditioning. If a unit as a whole is not salvageable, parts from that bike will be used to recondition another bike. The bicycles are completely overhauled, repaired and tuned-up. All bicycles receive a final test to ensure safe operation for the new owner.
